The Peruvian Association of Seed and Venture Capital (PECAP) has published its first half report for 2020.
The key highlights are:
Robust methodology
The PECAP team has improved the way it collects and categorizes data. The methodology is better aligned with LAVCA, which sets the standard for the region and is part of EMPEA. Investment data is grouped by stage and sector.
Larger rounds
The first half of 2020 witnessed $9.9 million in 9 transactions, compared to the first half of 2019 which recorded $7.9 million in 15 transactions.

Growth across sectors
Startup founders across a wider range of sectors are attracting foriegn capital. Edtech, Logistics and E-commerce all overtook Fintech as the sector with the most investment. One of the key investments for the period was the Crehana foll0w-on round to drive growth in the online education company.
Despite the trying times in Peru, the country’s startup founders are on pace to raise more money that they did last year.
